King County District Court Judge Robert Wacker dies at age 69

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, April 7^th for King County District Court Judge Robert A. Wacker who passed away on Tuesday, April 1st from an aggressive form of cancer.

Wacker was elected to the District Court on January 13, 1975 and served as Presiding Judge of the County’s District Court in 1976 and 1977.  Prior to his election to the Court, he served as Judge Pro Tem being appointed to that position in 1972.  Before that he served as a deputy prosecutor for King County under Charles O. Carroll, and in private practice working with the late Chief Justice Barbara Durham.  Judge Wacker served and chaired many committees in the District Court throughout his tenure on the bench.

Having served with Wacker as a district court judge, Presiding Judge J. Wesley Saint Clair expressed condolences to his family on behalf of the Court.  “I admired him immensely and believe he was an exemplary model of a district court judge, he will be sorely missed,” recalled Saint Clair.

Wacker was born in Boston and raised in New York and graduated from Trinity High School.  He completed his undergraduate work at Columbia University and the University of Washington in 1959.  Judge Wacker graduated from the University of Washington Law School in 1964.

Judge Wacker is survived by his wife, LaNita and children Ted, Paul, Douglas and Tracey and grandchildren Jhemini, Kelly and John.  He is also survived by his sister June Bambrick and brother Hal Wacker.

The memorial service is scheduled for Monday April 7^th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Shoreline Conference Center located at 18560 1^st Avenue NE.  A reception will follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to youth sports, or to give of your time through volunteer activities.
