NOVEMBER 2, 2015 - An announcement from Washington Court Administrator Callie T. Dietz:

I'm happy to report the successful launch today of the new Odyssey case management system in Franklin, Yakima and Thurston county superior courts and County Clerk offices, which were chosen by the SC-CMS Project Steering Committee as early adopters of the system.

Odyssey was tested on Sunday at these sites using work saved from the previous week. At the end of Sunday, go-live decisions were signed unanimously in all three counties by judicial officers, county clerks, court administrators and officials from AOC and Tyler Technologies. Odyssey was then launched live today with the courthouses open for business.

Officials and staff members from the courts and County Clerk offices have worked hard for more than a year to prepare for this transition from a 1970s system to a modern one, and their dedication was apparent in the success of the implementation. We want to thank them sincerely for their efforts.

I also want to thank the AOC and Tyler staff members who have worked long hours over many months to make this event possible. A number of them are still spread around the state, supporting this most recent phase of the SC-CMS project. As with the pilot court in Lewis County, staff members from AOC and Tyler will be on-site in each of the three early adopter counties for the next two weeks providing assistance as the staff adapt to the new system.

A statewide implementation schedule and roll-out map were recently approved by the Judicial Information System Committee (JISC). This information, as well as additional details and photos of the Early Adopter Go-Live, are available on the SC-CMS website at www.courts.wa.gov/sccms. An update on the project will also be included in the Fall edition of Full Court Press. Visit the website and read the newsletter report for more information. Please send any questions to the project team at sccmsproject@courts.wa.gov.

JUNE 30th, 2015 - An announcement from Justice Mary Fairhurst:

As Chair of the Judicial Information System Committee (JISC), I am happy to update you on the Administrative Office of the Court's (AOC) and Tyler Technologies' pilot implementation of the Superior Court Case Management System (SC-CMS) in Lewis County Superior Court and County Clerk's office.

After working in the new Odyssey case management system for two weeks, Lewis County Superior Court Judge James Lawler reports: "Odyssey is a great product supported by great people. When we went live on June 15, we had people from the AOC and Tyler Technologies literally standing at our side every step of the way. I was able to use Judge Edition on the first day to manage a domestic violence calendar smoothly. I haven't used a physical file since then and by the third day I had instructed my clerk to leave the files in the clerk's office. It's nice to finally be using technology from this century!" Lewis County Clerk Kathy Brack reports that her staff members are "still working on minor adjustments to the Odyssey system. After only two weeks, the staff continue to learn the various functions of the Odyssey system and are adapting well to the new programming."Lewis County Superior Court Administrator Susie Parker reports: "We are up and running and our old paper calendar is already obsolete! It is definitely exciting to see some of our manual processes going away and having a system that works for both the County Clerk and Superior Court. There have been some challenges along the way, but I can't say enough about the amazing team of professionals from AOC, Tyler and our own IT Department that were by our sides supporting us as we implement and fine tune our work processes."

A great big thank you is due to Lewis County for their efforts as the first site. Their hard work benefits all other courts and County Clerk offices preparing to implement Odyssey.

Staff members from the AOC and Tyler Technologies were onsite in Lewis County for two full weeks assisting staff as they adapted to working in the new system and addressing issues revealed by pilot implementation. AOC and Tyler workers have now returned to their own offices and Lewis County staff are working in Odyssey with phone and online support when needed.

The next steps for implementation include supporting Lewis County's implementation while finalizing preparations in the three "early adopter" sites of Franklin, Thurston, and Yakima Counties. These sites are scheduled to begin using Odyssey in November 2015, followed by Snohomish County in May 2016 and Spokane County in November 2016.

Rollout of the new system statewide is expected to be complete in 2018. We look forward to working with you and your representatives on JISC as we bring modern case management to Washington superior courts.

JUNE 15, 2015 - An announcement from Washington Court Administrator Callie T. Dietz:

This weekend, after managing cases in SCOMIS for more than 38 years, Lewis County Superior Court and County Clerk's office successfully went live with the new Odyssey case management system. After a real-work test day at the Lewis County courthouse on Saturday, June 13, the decision to "go live" at the end of Saturday was unanimous and signed by representatives from the Superior Court, the County Clerk, AOC and Tyler. The court opened for public business the morning of June 15 and staff members worked with Odyssey throughout today.

Staff members from Lewis County, the Administrative Office of the Courts and Tyler Technologies have worked tirelessly for many months to make this launch possible. This historic event marks the beginning of an era of more efficient, functional and cost effective technology for Washington's superior courts and county clerk's offices. The system will provide better service to state residents and businesses, and better communication with justice partners and other agencies.

For the next two weeks, project staff from AOC and Tyler will be onsite in Lewis County assisting staff as they adapt to working in the new system. As with any complex system, trouble-shooting and adjustments will continue during this and future implementations. Please join me in congratulating Lewis County on a successful launch that will provide valuable information to courts throughout the state as they move toward implementing Odyssey. I would also like to thank the SC-CMS Steering Committee, the members of the CUWG, AOC's SC-CMS team and all the judges, County Clerks, court administrators and AOC staff who have supported this project, as well as the Tyler Technology staff members for their dedication and hard work.
