Check out our new interactive Dependency Dashboard updated on a monthly and quarterly basis!
If you have trouble viewing our Dependency Dashboard using Internet Explorer please use an alternate browser such as Edge, Chrome, or Firefox.
Dependency Dashboard

Tips to get the most from this dashboard:
  1. Click on the counties on the map to see the data for that county in the additional graphs. If you would like to compare more than one county, you can press the CTRL key and click multiple counties.
  2. If you hover over the counties on the map or the bars on the graphs you will see the information being reported in written form.
  3. If you would like to sort the bar graphs a small icon will appear when you hover on the x-axis for the horizontal bar charts and when you hover over the y-axis for vertical bar charts. You can click multiple times for different sorting options.

Annual Timeliness of Dependency Case Processing Report

  • Mandated by the Legislature in 2007.
  • Serves to inform policy makers as they create and shape the State's dependency laws in an effort to improve the outcomes for children in the dependency system.
  • The annual report and its internal web based 'interactive' counterpart help the courts to track their own progress in meeting the performance measures that have been developed to address the most pressing problems facing those involved in or working in the child welfare system.

"As a justice system, our goal is ensuring stability and better outcomes for children. We do that in part by decreasing the amount of time children spend in foster care. This annual report is a valuable resource to help my office, the local courts, and our partners gauge the timeliness of key hearings and proceedings in child dependency cases across our state. The data gives us important insights into how we can further improve the system to achieve the best outcomes for our state's children."
                        - Bob Ferguson, Washington State Attorney General

"The data gives us important insights into how we can further improve the system to achieve the best outcomes for our state's children."
                        - Barbara Madsen, Chief Justice

Former Governor Gregoire calls the Dependency Children in Washington: Case Timeliness and Outcomes Annual Report a "gold mine" during this TVW presentation.
