Guardianship Monitoring and Support Initiative
GMSI Implementation
The GMSI is a voluntary initiative for county superior courts. Counties that partner with the GMSI go through a multi-step process to establish clear lines of communication with GMSI staff and court administration, and ensure best practices are developed and carried out.
Initiating a Partnership with GMSI
Counties partnering with the GMSI will move through the following process to implement the GMSI in their county:

SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS |
1. Assess the county's organizational readiness, capacity, and resources for implementing the GMSI;
2. Review guardianship case data for accuracy, quality and reliability;
3. Assess current practices and procedures (the existing "What" and the "How");
4. Identify areas of improvement/enhancement; and
5. Identify site specific goals.

DRAFT MOU/ GUIDELINES OR PROTOCOLS |
Draft and establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the county's superior court. |
TAILOR PROGRAM FRAMEWORK & STRATEGIES TO COUNTY NEEDS |
Collaborate with GMSI staff to determine which components of the
GAaMI's framework addresses the needs of the county.
The framework of the GMSI includes:
1. Community Engagement: Community volunteers, adults subject to guardianship, court appointed guardians, and other involved parties (attorneys);
2. Data Management: Tracking, auditing and reporting; and
3. Training and education.

Informed by the situational analysis, develop implementation plan for community engagement, volunteer operations, guardian monitoring tracking system, and training and education. |
