Welcome to the new and improved DMCJA web site. I extend my thanks to the technology committee of DMCJA and the employees of AOC who worked together to move this project forward at a rapid pace. Of course, a site such as this one is intended to serve a target community - in this case the members of DMCJA. Surf through the site and become acquainted with it and then feel free to make suggestions for improvement if you find any area lacking. I would particularly like to draw your attention to the member's memorandum section. When you issue a ruling on a novel argument or on an issue of current significance, please forward your decision to the webmaster for inclusion in this section. It takes very little time and I know that I have benefitted from reading my fellow judges' ruling prior to hearing a particular topic.
This should be an interesting year for our association. One of my greatest goals as your president is to move the Case Management System project forward as rapidly as possible. This is a long term project that will not reach fruition for some years but observation of the progress on the Superior Court CMS project confirms that proper planning at this stage will cut years off at the end of the project. Another of my goals involves the issue of improvement of court services to the public in conjunction with the concept of regionalization. The Board of Judicial Administration has adopted the position that a system of regional courts of limited jurisdiction will provide improved service to the public. An ad hoc committee of DMCJA will explore whether additional forms of regionalization other than those already provided for by statute are desirable as well as identifying fiscally responsible methods to improve public service. Finally, the neglected issue of court security at courts of limited jurisdiction will receive attention during my term of office. Member input on these issues is invited. In fact, member participation is always welcomed. During the course of the year, you will receive notifications of opportunities to serve DMCJA on committees and otherwise. Please avail yourselves of these opportunities. A larger platform of participating members makes for a stronger Association.
So, enjoy the new website. Feel free to volunteer for DMCJA committees or projects. As always, if you have any questions or concerns about Association business feel free to contact me.
